June 6th, 2008

There were three beds in the bedroom. Another guest was a polish guy from Canada. We chatted a bit, but even though the conversation has inspired me of being a world traveller. This day I woke up early and got myself ready to explore Geneva. First stop is CERN, the european organization for nuclear research. We had been waiting for the bus No. 9 marked "CERN", and yes that was the bus No. 9, but it was not going to CERN. How come? and what went wrong? I asked around and found out that buses No. 9 do not go to CERN any more. Instead, I took a bus No. 56 because it was going to the area near CERN. I tried to look at the information boards at every stop, suddenly in the middle of no where I had found the sign of a bus marked "CERN". We rushed down the bus and wait for the another, which came about five minutes later.

A quarter of an hour later, we arrived at CERN with some students and two teachers. Of course we all were not allowed to enter to the laboratory itself (doing so, the reservation must be booked at least a month in advance!!!). However, a small museum called Microcosm was available with admission free. There were two big rooms in the museum and that was it. I did enjoy it really.

Taking trams with a connection, we were back into the city centre. Walking down along Boulevard Jaques Dalcroze, the Musee d'Art et d'Histoire was on our left handside. The museum had paintings, sculpture, room interiors and weapons. Such a pity that we did not have time for the UN and the red cross. We went back to our hostel in the evening packed and get ready for the trip to Zermatt the day after.
